Peter Underwood: Master Honey Blender
Years at HWA: 46
For over 46 years, Peter has been at the heart of Hive & Wellness, shaping the quality and flavour of Australian honey. Starting at just 21, he worked his way up from rolling 370kg drums by hand to becoming our Master Honey Blender. With a refined honey palate arguably unrivalled across Australia – able to pick the origin of any honey supplied – Peter oversees grading, blending and flavour profiling to ensure every drop meets the highest standard. With deep roots in the company’s history, he proudly mentors new talent while tracking flowering patterns to forecast future honey supply from our diverse Australian native trees.

Lisa Gowans: Product & Portfolio Manager
Years at HWA: 21
Lisa’s two-decade journey at Hive & Wellness began in administration and grew into a global career in product innovation. Now Product & Portfolio Manager, she’s helped bring iconic products like Capilano Hot Chilli Honey to life. Her experience at Hive & Wellness spans over seven different roles with travel to international markets woven in, including Thailand, Vietnam and China.
Passionate about impact, Lisa thrives in a collaborative team where every idea counts. Her respect for the purity of honey and the people who produce it fuels her dedication to the industry.

Dr Ben McKee: Chief Operating Officer
Years at HWA: 22
Ben’s career at Hive & Wellness began after he completed a PhD on beekeeping disease, which saw Ben join the Beekeeper Services Division with a strong personal and academic connection to the craft. His passion and expertise propelled him into leadership roles, culminating in his position as Chief Operating Officer. He’s championed innovation, quality and beekeepers throughout his journey. Ben’s focus has always been on driving positive change for the Australian beekeeping industry and representing the company globally with purpose and integrity.

Years at HWA: 10
Steven started on the production line with no food industry experience, but his work ethic and leadership quickly stood out. Progressing in his career through five different roles, Steven now holds a key leadership position as Site Operations Manager, overseeing teams across multiple locations. Known for his hands-on approach and commitment to people, Steven is passionate about developing talent and driving team success. His story proves that at Hive & Wellness, hard work and initiative can build a thriving career.
